The Problem With Milk
- Cow’s milk contains a protein called Casein which is what a lot of people are intolerant to. There are two types of casein – alpha and beta-caseins. Beta caseins are divided into two types A1 & A2 milk. Most of today’s milk contains both types of beta-casein protein, A1 and A2. A2 milk comes from cows specially selected to produce A2 beta-casein protein alone rather than both. (Although it still has casein and lactose).
- Lactose is the main sugar found in cow’s milk which some people have intolerance to an inability to digest.Yogurt is made from milk but seems to create fewer problems, maybe because it is fermented.
Foods with dairy:
Breakfast cereals, muesli bars, energy bars, cereal bars, breadcrumbs, breads, crackers, deli meats granola, vegetarian meat products.
So what can you do? Replace cow’s milk with rice, almond, oat milk. Replace cheese with goats or sheep cheese.
